Stanchart Run 2006

(3rd December 2006)

I must be crazy when i agreed to join the 21.1km with Mark. When i was spotting 55kg frame back in Sec school days, the furtherest i ran was only 15km. Nevertheless, there was this feeling that somehow i will discipline myself to train hard for the event (and lose weight in the process).

Bullshit.

We had a grand total of 5 runs of 10km each, 2 of those in the week before the run itself. And that's it, we are all set for the run of our lives. To make matters worse, i slept only 4 hrs the night before. But the best thing of it all is i have the perfect excuse to go on a carbo loading rampage 3 days before the run (pastas and pizzas!! :P)

630am: we arrived at One Fullerton, bit of stretching and there we go.

5km: Weather is good, and the dawn is breaking. Good cruising speed.

8km: Shit, i have to go toilet. Luckily so does mark. We agreed to go on the 10km mark.

10km: toilet break (in the bushes :P)

13km: marina south seems to be never ending....

16km: First pitstop. Sole is sore and painful. Finally i come to a complete stop and try to walk along. Until i saw 2 aunties overtaking me.

18km: 2nd pitstop. This time its the buttocks having cramps. Sat down stretch and taggle along. This is bad.

19km: Somehow i found my third and final wind. We wanted to dash across the finishing line looking all cool and suave and thats exactly what we did........

Then came the cramps on my buttocks and shoulders. I practically stopped moving for 10 mins in case i aggravated 'em. :P

In any case we're just glad its all over.
Special thanks to the following pple:
- Father and mother for waking up at 5am to ferry us there
- Mark for encouraging us to finish the race on our feet and just allowing me to catch up
- Sister for paying for my reg. fees :P
- And last but not least my dear baby jazzy for coming to pick us all up stinky and sticky from boat quay. ;)

After that it was a feast of tony romas for lunch and seafood @ newton for dinner. *cheers*
